Parent Advocacy Committee
Parent Advocacy Committee is a volunteer leadership committee organized within the Beaverton Black People’s Union. The composition includes parents and other community members organized to advance the needs of families and students within the Beaverton School District related to Civil Rights, disproportionate discipline, experiences of racism and exclusion, and overall ineffective policy, curriculum, and practice that inhibits a positive, culturally affirming education environment for Black children.

Commitment: Members of the committee should anticipate:

Attending one committee meeting per month (1.5 hours)

1-4 hours of volunteer time committed to activities and projects

2-6 hours of optional parent support/advocacy events.
